Two actresses who were once rivals reunite as the two main characters in the play Two Sisters. One, who was a star in the theatrical world, is returning to the stage after having a hard time after the death of her cheating husband, and the other, a TV star, wants to extend her career onto the theatrical stage—under careful calculations. A week before their first performance, the two actresses not only circle each other warily, but also add to the weight of their own lives, increasing anxiety. This new film comes after a long hiatus by Hong Kong’s representative maestro Stanley Kwan, and stars Hong Kong′s representative actresses Sammi Cheng, Gigi Leung, and China′s top actress Bai Bai He. While the faces of the actresses become the art of the film, and the rhythmical Cantonese lines sound like music, we can enjoy the full maturity of the master through his unexposed delicate production.
