Widow Dance (1983) is a movie based on Lee Cheol-yong셲 novel. It is the same as Lee Jang-ho셲 other movie, Children of Darkness, in regards to be based on Lee셲 novel. The film criticizes society by describing the life of widows who have divorced for different reasons. The movie consists of three episodes. The first episode is Mal-suk (Lee Bo-hee), who commits fraud on a suitor to deprive him of money by pretending to be divorced from a rich Korean-Japanese guy. Her fraud is revealed and then she is finally arrested. The second episode is about Mal-suk셲 sister-in-law (Park Won-suk). Mal-suk셲 sister-in-law becomes a widow after her husband dies in a car accident. The last episode follows the theme of the previous two episodes. The widows lead hopeless and on-going lives. While working for Shin Sang-ok셲 Shin Films production company, Lee Jangho made his debut with Heavenly Homecoming to Stars in 1974, before he directedGood Windy Day (1980), Children of Darkness Part 1, Young-ae the Songstress (1981), Declaration of Idiot (1983), Between The Knees (1984), Eoh Wu-dong (1985), and A Wanderer Never Stops on the Road (1987). He was the iconic director of the 70s and 80s.
