Is he the village idiot or a genius in disguise? Sending a tape recorder to school rather than turn up in person and have to admit that he doesn′t study, the woolly hatted Noia 17 year old Icelandic Albino, drifts through life on a remote fjord wedged between the fierce, icy ocean and imposing snow covered peaks. In between trying to cheat the local pub′s poker machine and sleeping his life away, Noi dreams of escaping from this white-wall prison with Iris, a city girl who works in a local gas station. While Iris isn′t exactly averse to Noi′s awkward advances, his clumsy attempts at escaping his rural predicament spiral out of control and end in complete failure. Only a natural disaster will shatter Noi′s universe and offer him a window into a better world. An impressive feature debut from new Icelandic talent, Dagur Kári, whose pop band Slowblow composed the soundtrack.
