Program Note
Dondup is a handsome young government officer stationed in a rural outpost of Bhutan. He wants to leave the Himalyan kingdom and go to America. On his way to achieve this goal, he encounters a simple apple seller and a good-natured monk with a supply of wise tales. But when he meets Sonam, a local beauty, his footsteps begun to falter. Will the monk's playful teasing change Dondup's view of his "primitive" homeland, or will it be Sonam's beguiling smile?
