Is it possible to smile in the face of death? Would anyone have the nerve to tweak death′s ear?In the Budapest of 1944, the Jewish residents of the Hungarian capital helplessly await their tragic fate. But one house in the troubled city defies the horror. An extraordinary voice gives strength and encourages the hiding Jews to continue to bear the unbearable. The magical voice is that of Imre Rose, the world-famous Jewish opera singer, who never leaves his room in the tower, yet every evening his voice resounds from on high. And while Rose continues to sing the world is not lost. Everyone in the town accepts that the eccentric singer is a recluse but 14-year-old Tom is determined to uncover the secrets of the tower and its intensely private inhabitant. Rose′s Song is a touching, but not sad movie. It shows how, even in the shadow of death, poise, dignity, humor and even the occasional miracle is possible.
