Program Note
Just out of prison, it looks like happy days are here again for Peter. With no higher ambition than a trip to the beach, Peter envisages a relaxed life, free of the mistakes that have dogged him in the past. Upon his return to his hometown however Peter is ensnared in the domestic dramas of his sister Maria. Peter watches on as Maria′s friend Maya gives birth to a baby boy which Maria has agreed to raise as a surrogate mother. Maria wants the child to trick her boyfriend into believing it is his baby. Maya had hoped that not having the baby in her possession would make her more desirable to the real father of the child Janos. But when that doesn′t work Maya demands to have her child returned to her. Despite the chaos of Maya′s life, Peter is attracted to her and wants her for himself. Torn between his desire for Maya and his loyalty to his manipulative sister Peter has to take sides and sees the happiness that seemed with in his grasp vanish into thin air.
