Program Note
[A day] gets exhausted when one is involved in physical labor. In this age of economic crisis, that feeling still remains but the labor is absent; so is the family life of a laborer. Man-Sik is such a person living for a day. His life depicted on the screen is his true life, by now an accustomed "daily routine." An indifferent camera follows his day without establishing fictional or documentary-style approach. Man-Sik′s busy life searching for works even wears out the cameras following him, making our observation of him a cruel and heartless act. Yet the director keeps his hopes alive. A lady dressed in pale uniforms and roaming the alley is a metaphor of hope. Even if it′s a staged acting of some sort, her movements still show the glimpse of hope for the future.
