Program Note
Three provincial girls arrive in Beijing. Each seeks success in the capital. Yu Quin works as a bar hostess in a night-club and Hu Jin, as a bit player and model in a Beijing studio. Zun Ji become a ‘dancing-queen’ in Beijing’s discotheques. Under the harsh light of the gaudy neons and through sketches of their daily “marginality,” hopes are tainted with mockery.
