PROGRAM NOTE
The Arctic part of Yakutia has unbearable climate and permafrost and this severe land draws people who long for freedom and independence. The film introduces a horse breeder, who spends the most part of the year in tundra, looking after his herd, only seeing his family a couple of times a year as he comes for the horse breeders festival or brings home meat. He feels a stranger in his own house, all but losing the connection with his family. Exhausting life in the North makes a man face one of the hardest questions: who is he?
