La Frances Hui is an Associate Curator of Film at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Prior to joining MoMA, she was a film curator at the Asia Society New York where she organized a series featuring Japanese New Wave, independent Chinese cinema, contemporary Thai cinema, Iranian New Wave, as well as Tsai Ming-Liang, Jafar Panahi, Midi Z, and Shohei Imamura retrospectives. In addition, Hui has curated retrospectives of the works of Mark Lee Ping-Bing, Tomu Uchida, Pedro Almodóvar, Bruce Lee, and film series featuring Latin American and Philippine cinemas at MoMA. She plays an important role in promoting Asian and Third World films.
